Jana Gana Mana Part 1 Story
The story of this cinematic masterpiece is full of twists and turns, just when you think you know the real culprit, you don’t. At the beginning run of the movie, one might assume that the protagonist is the actual doer of all the wrongs that had been done and though he is to some extent, the movie takes a drastic turn. back to basics, the story begins with the murder of university professor Saba Mariyam. The authorities are forced to investigate the matter when students hold large protests. The Karnataka Government then appoints ACP Sajjan Kumar. In the investigation led by Sajjan, it is found that the professor was brutally burnt to death after being raped by four people. However, it is later revealed in the movie by the defense that the whole crime was a ploy by the government, to gain votes based on false positivity of the gruesome crime originally done by the colleagues of the girl because she filed a complaint against them.
Jana Gana Mana is unique in the sense that it picks incidents from real events. Inspiration is taken from the extrajudicial execution of the Hyderabad gang rape case (2019). Often extrajudicial executions are celebrated by the public. Jana Gana Mana deals with the same topic. Sajjan represents the authorities, the doer of the execution who is later charged by the Human Rights Activists. It is important to recognize how a popular Malayalam film with leading actors is engagingly addressing the topic. Political parties have long used police vigilantism as a strategy to influence voters’ emotions and count on them to win votes. Suraj and Prithviraj Sukumaran both performed admirably in their roles, and the film’s production team also deserves praise for daring to depict such a timely tale on screen.
